HTC Weather App Now Available for Download on Google Play

HTC on Wednesday has released its stock 'HTC Weather' app on Google Play for HTC devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or higher.
According to various online reports, the HTC Weather app is not yet compatible with all HTC devices running Android 4.4 devices. Android Central noted that the app has only been updated on the HTC One (M8) and HTC Desire Eye.

The listing of the app on Google Play is part of the HTC's new system app update model for its smartphones, making it easier for the company to provide more frequent updates to individual apps rather than rolling it out with full firmware updates that may require additional testing, and may see lower user adoption.

Notably, in the past also, HTC had moved quite a few system apps to Google Play, like BlinkFeed, HTC SenseTV, HTC Service Pack apps, HTC Gallery and more.

Meanwhile, HTC is also planning Android 5.0 Lollipop update for four of its smartphones - the HTC One (M7), the HTC One (M8); the HTC One mini, and the HTC One mini 2. The company last month said it would roll out the update within 90 days of Google releasing the final Android 5.0 Lollipop source code, and once again confirmed its intentions after Google rolled it out on Monday, adding that it has news for HTC device owners in store.

According to an earlier report, HTC's unannounced list of devices due for an Android 5.0 Lollipop update includes the recently launched HTC Desire Eye, HTC One (M8) Dual SIM, HTC One (M7) Dual SIM, HTC One (E8), HTC One (E8) Dual SIM, and HTC Butterfly 2.
